Get a legitimate Emotional Support Animal letter from a licensed mental health counselor — by secure video session, anywhere in Florida.
What is an ESA?
An Emotional Support Animal (ESA) is a companion animal that provides therapeutic benefit to individuals with a mental or emotional disability. Unlike service animals, ESAs do not need specialized training — their comfort and presence is the benefit.
ESAs can include dogs, cats, and other animals. The key requirement is documentation from a licensed mental health professional who has personally evaluated you and determined that an ESA helps mitigate your symptoms.
With a valid ESA letter, you have enforceable rights under the Fair Housing Act of 1988 — protecting you from discriminatory pet policies in housing.
The Process
The entire process can be completed remotely — no office visit required, as long as you're located in Florida.
Call or email to book your evaluation, or use our online scheduler. Complete a short intake form online in advance so your session time is focused and efficient.
Meet one-on-one with Doug Maesk, LMHC for a thorough diagnostic assessment via secure video session — from the comfort of your home, anywhere in Florida.
If qualified, you'll receive a professionally prepared ESA letter you can present to your landlord, HOA, or condo board right away.
Your Legal Rights
Recent updates to HUD guidelines have strengthened protections for people with emotional support animals in housing situations.
Housing providers must consider your specific animal — they cannot apply blanket breed, size, or weight restrictions to deny an ESA accommodation request.
Landlords and HOAs are prohibited from charging extra fees or deposits for approved ESA animals. Your ESA is not a "pet" under the law.
Housing providers may request documentation of your disability and need for an ESA, but cannot require specific certifications or training records.
Every ESA request must be individually evaluated. Blanket no-pet policies cannot be used to deny a valid, documented ESA accommodation.
